About Me
I am particularly keen to welcome intermediate to advanced pupils for an initial lesson to assess and progress their playing abilities
I am an experienced, professional music teacher with excellent A.B.R.S.M exam results at all levels based in Hale Barns, Cheshire. Backed by over 20 years playing and teaching the piano and accordion, I offer high-quality lessons to schools and individual pupils and have trained the choir in two churches.
I help my students to grow in ability and prepare them for examinations and concerts. I’m a member of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) and use my extensive concert experience to tailor my tuition to suit the needs of my pupils
I sit on the Manchester Committee for the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA).
I organise informal concerts to allow pupils to gain experience in performing with a past concerts held at the Ringway Life Building and Bechstein Centre
Learn through Experience
Throughout the years, I have given recitals in several venues, including in Chester Cathedral and at the Bowdon Rooms, where I have also hosted many pupil concerts as well as a recital with a violinist.
My pupils have earned distinctions in their exams and in music festivals. I have been teaching piano and accordion since 1989 and have taught many adult pupils. I have also reached the interview stage to become a ARBRM examiner.
A Practised Player
I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and achieved the highest marks in the UK in 1979 for Grade 8 Piano where I won the Sheila Mossman Memorial Award.
I studied piano and cello at St. Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh, and at the RNCM in Manchester.
Performance
In addition to teaching piano and accordion, I play piano, accordion and the organ. If you’re planning a concert, ceremony, or event, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me for more information.
My Book
During lock down I was inspired to write a children’s book on the stories of a young bear learning the piano. Learn more here!
